Thank you for seeking to know about our ambassador program. INWF seeks out opportunities for community outreach through our ambassador program which involves sending ambassador(s) to fulfill our mission of raising awareness and funds for chronic mental health issues, elimination of stigma and discrimination, education, and providing relief to the poor by utilizing a variety of means.
These means include creating and selling t-shirts titled “Mental Wellness Plays a Role,” charity dinner, bake sale, garage sale, car wash, community sporting events, benefit concert, fashion show, talent show and gala. Through these means, the issue of discrimination, stigma and limited access to care is highlighted and brought to the attention of diverse audiences. Through these means, audiences obtain widespread understanding of the etiology of mental illness. Many people lack the understanding of the biological etiology of mental illness, and thus, attributes mental illness to supernatural forces and the enemy.
During our charity dinners, audiences share diverse views on mental health, and cultural factors to include ideas that mental illness is owned by the whole family and is a source of shame, and environmental-based mental health problems are seen as personal weaknesses. We promote mental wellness in a unique way which receives elaborate attention to include counseling, and medication management. INWF will continue to note factors that contribute to the lack of understanding such as; lack of systematic training for health professionals, cultural factors, poor research, and the absence of explicit human rights in some cases.
Our events address prevention and treatment, and promote mental health and well-being. Also, events address the prevention and treatment of substance abuse, and the hazardous use of alcohol.
