It’s good to wash your hands, every day but what would happen if you had the urge to do so every hour? Every minute? Every second? That’s what life with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is like. These behaviors are like an itch, and while they may seem harmless, they can lead to many negative consequences for the person and people around them if it isn’t treated. People with OCD can feel anxious about their thoughts and compulsive behaviors, and think that others judge them for it, making them have a negative view of themselves. People around the world are learning to live with and help people with OCD by learning about it and finding ways to help, but where I live, people don’t see it that way. They see it as witchcraft or punishment from God, and treat it that way too. I hope this blog reaches people in my own town and others around the world so that everyone can better understand and stop hurting people with OCD.
